Scientific literacy is the ability to understand, analyze, and process scientific concepts and information through reading or writing. In biology lab, we worked with and created scientific literacy multiple times. We learned how to dissect scientific papers to further our understanding of the information being given. After learning how to read and accurately process scientific papers, we then learned how to write our own. We analyzed our own data and observations and turned it into scientific literacy (scientific paper). Through this assignment, I was able to demonstrate scientific literacy and was able to communicate scientific information. This is an important skill for college students and any adult to possess because it allows you to think critically and understand the scientific information you are dealing with. It allows you to fully grasp scientific concepts and further expand on the topic through writing if needed.
