Learning Outcome 1:

When reading the first and final draft of my entry essay that was submitted at the beginning of the English 110 course, I noticed many difference in my revision process compared to now. In my essay “A Revolution”, the rough draft was very similar to my final draft. The rough draft was very close to being complete and I didn’t allow myself to use the recursive writing process. The only edits I made was adding a sentence to my introductory paragraph to make it more interesting. I also revised a sentence later on in the essay that helped to introduce a source more efficiently, although now I see that I struggled with leading into sources and quotes. In comparison to my revision process currently, I believe that I have made many improvements. In the rough draft my essay “The Science and Art of the Child’s Mind”, I made notes to myself on areas that felt incomplete and I wanted to work on some more before the final submission. This lead me to create a stronger thesis and overall a more successful introductory paragraph. The rough draft appeared to be very incomplete compared to the final draft, but I allowed myself to write more freely and to get my main thoughts down on paper before diving into the smaller details. Conclusions are often difficult for me, so giving myself the time to perfect the entire essay before writing the conclusion was beneficial to me. Once I felt confident about my essay and all of my ideas, the conclusion was easier to write and was more advanced than rushing through it.
